Tour de Suisse (SUI) - 16-24.06.2007

The Tour de Suisse is one of the biggest and most prestigious stage races in the UCI ProTour and will be held for the 71st time this year. The nine days of racing are held across the whole of Switzerland, captivating huge crowds along the roads each day that remember the great Swiss and international riders of the past. This year the Tour de Suisse starts in Olten in the north of the country with a 3.8 km prologue and finishes in Bern with a 34.2 km time trial for a total of 1225 km of racing. It visits Austria and Liechtenstein, with stage starts and finishes in each of its neighbouring countries. Swiss World time trial Champion Fabian Cancellara (CSC) will be favourite for both time trials but will suffer in the mountain stages that include a total of 20 000 metres of climbing. There are six mountain top finishes with one in Nauders, Austria, one in Malbun, Liechtenstein, one in Giubiasco, in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino, one in the famous Crans-Montana resort, one at the top of the Grimsel-Pass and one in Schwarzsee. The sprinters will be focusing on the second stage (Lucerne).
