GP Ouest France - Plouay (FRA) - 02.09.2007

Brittany is one of the centres of French cycling and world cycling and the GP Ouest France is always a celebration of our sport. Thousands of passionate cycling fans fill the course and enjoy a great weekend of racing with first the women’s race and then the men’s UCI ProTour race. Plouay has hosted the UCI World Championships in the past and the organization is world class. As a result riders love to ride the GP Ouest France and it is one of the big objectives of the second half of the cycling season. In 2006 an extra climb was added to the circuit named after Jean-Yves Perron, increasing the distance to 5 km. Each lap now includes three tough climbs that guarantee a worthy winner and a spectacular race. Vincenzo Nibali of the Liquigas team won last year beating Spain’s Juan Antonio Flecha (Rabobank) and Manuele Mori (Saunier Duval) in a sprint after an aggressive race. Nibali is not yet a big star of professional cycling but he is considered one of the biggest talents of the sport and showed it by winning the GP Ouest France at just 22. If he goes onto great things, the GP Ouest Plouay will be remembered as his first ever UCI ProTour win.
